Awareness to Action: UN Days with SCAN

Toronto, ON — Following the success of its 14-Day Climate Action Awareness Campaign and upcoming celebration of the UN International Day of Families 2025, the Sustainable Community Aid Network (SCAN) is excited to announce a new initiative: Awareness to Action: UN Days with SCAN, a series of monthly impact campaigns aligned with United Nations International Days.

These monthly campaigns will engage families, youth, professionals, and communities around shared global themes—ranging from environmental justice and gender equality to food security and mental health—through education, action, and partnership.

“Our goal is to take the momentum from our recent campaigns and expand it year-round,” said Obie Agusiegbe, Executive Director of SCAN. “By aligning with UN International Days, we’re connecting local action to global movements—making it easy for people and organizations to stay involved, informed, and inspired.”

What to Expect in SCAN’s Monthly Campaigns:

  • Live Webinars & Panels
Featuring experts, youth leaders, and community voices on the monthly theme.

  • Educational Blog Features via EnvironBuzz Magazine
Sharing real stories and expert commentary to deepen understanding and highlight solutions.

  • Social Media Challenges & Toolkits

  • Partnership & Sponsorship Opportunities

First Campaign: UN International Day of Families – May 2025

Kicking off the series, SCAN’s May campaign celebrates the International Day of Families. This campaign will focus on empowering families as drivers of sustainability, resilience, and equity—highlighting how everyday actions in the home can lead to meaningful environmental and social change.

SCAN’s Monthly Impact Campaigns are designed to connect people from diverse communities, empower grassroots action, and amplify the voices of those often left out of mainstream environmental and development conversations—particularly Black, Indigenous, and racialized communities.

Organizations and individuals interested in supporting or partnering with SCAN’s campaign series are encouraged to reach out.
