From Waste to Worth: How Zero Waste Drives Poverty Reduction, Climate Action, and Shared Prosperity

Waste is not just an environmental issue — it is an economic and social justice issue. From overflowing landfills to food waste and overconsumption, our linear “take-make-dispose” system contributes to climate change, deepens inequality, and limits opportunities for vulnerable communities. “From Waste to Worth: How Zero Waste Drives Poverty Reduction, Climate Action, and Shared Prosperity” explores how circular economy and zero waste strategies can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create green jobs, strengthen local economies, and make essential resources more accessible. This webinar will examine how zero waste initiatives — including food recovery, repair economies, composting programs, and community reuse networks — can serve as tools for poverty reduction and climate resilience. We will also highlight practical, community-based solutions that individuals, organizations, and municipalities can adopt to build more equitable and sustainable systems.
