SCAN has partnered with EKCEP to expand the program’s reach to black and racialized communities in Canada.
The EnvironFocus Knowledge and Culture Exchange Program (EKCEP) is a transformative youth educational program that provides an avenue for teachers and children from developed countries and developing countries to work together in solving sustainability issues affecting continents. Facilitates the knowledge and skill transfer of the need for diversity and inclusivity of cultures at the middle and high school levels before these students become adults, and transferring that ability becomes difficult.
The program offers peer-to-peer mentorship programs and educational resources to help youth become community leaders. It also provides culturally-focused programming. Students from participating high schools within Africa are paired with students of a similar grade and indigenous communities in Canada. This goal is for students to work together to develop innovative ideas and projects that can solve sustainability issues in their communities.
